what is laevolac?

mild & effective laxative

The active ingredient of laevolac is lactulose. Lactulose is a mild laxative. It acts as a kind of soluble fibre and activates natural mechanisms to restore the microbial balance and function of the colon. laevolac is generally well tolerated and can be taken for longer periods of time. Due to its gentle mode of action it is suitable for all age groups as well as for sensitive patients (e.g. small children, elderly people, and patients with other diseases).

However, when taking laevolac mild side effects may occur. Please note that laevolac may not be approved for all age groups in all countries. Local regulatory authorities may decide differently on indication and patient group restrictions. Contact your local laevolac representative to find out more about the approval status of laevolac in your country of residence.

laevolac is used to treat constipation in children, adolescents, and adults. The dosage should be adjusted according to the individual needs of the patient. Effects should be noticeable within a few days; once symptoms improve significantly, the dose can be reduced to a maintenance level.

When taking laxatives, including laevolac, it is recommended to drink sufficient amounts of fluids (1.5 to 2 litres per day). Please note that laevolac may not be approved for all age groups in all countries. Consult your doctor and/or pharmacist in your country of residence and read the product information leaflet carefully before you start taking laevolac.
